HoP Leadership Development Program 2024-2025 Application

nola 2016The HoP Leadership Development Program is an intense year-long program for exceptionally motivated, passionate high school students who plan and fundraise for a summer Red Carpet Retreat for teens with cancer.

 Leaders should:

  1. Be passionate about serving teens with cancer
  2. Want to grow their own leadership and professional skills
  3. Be high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors 
  4. Be able to attend Sunday workshops twice per month.  These workshops center on guest speakers, skill building, and hands-on learning to keep RCD on track.
  5. Expect to spend 1-2 hours per week on tasks and assignments, independently and in groups.

    This is a highly competitive, advanced program, and not everyone that applies will be selected.  Selections will be made based on your:

    • Responses in the below application.
    • Character references, personal recommendations, and parental consent.
    • Zoom interviews scheduled after you submit your online application.

    Candidates will be evaluated based on their:

    • Understanding of Heart of Passion, Red Carpet Day, and the Leadership Development Program as a whole (hint: Explore this web page, our socials, and talk to past leaders!)
    • Ability to communicate ideas effectively
    • Dedication to the team and to the time commitment
    • Enthusiasm for the cause and their own personal development
    • Overall demonstration of initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, persistence, creativity, enthusiasm, compassion, and integrity.

    Applications will be accepted until September 12.  Applicants can expect a 30 minute Zoom interview between September 7 and 15, parental consent and phone calls, and reference checks before selections are made.  Selections will be announced September 16.  Mandatory kick-off and Parents info session is September 22, and workshops will continue on alternating Sundays through the school year.  Selected students will be asked to pay a $50 program fee to offset the cost of HoP polos and meeting materials.  This can be waived if needed.
